The Role:
We are looking for a Senior WordPress Developer to join one of our high-growth client teams. You will be responsible for architecting and building sophisticated, high-performance web experiences that push the boundaries of what WordPress can do.
In this role, you aren’t just installing plugins; you are building custom Gutenberg blocks, managing complex Headless WordPress integrations via the REST API or GraphQL, and optimizing enterprise-level multisite environments. You will lead the technical direction for web projects, ensuring clean, maintainable code and exceptional site speed.
What we are looking for:
- Deep knowledge of PHP 8.x and WordPress core functions, hooks, and filters.
- Strong experience with React.js, specifically for building custom Gutenberg blocks and interactive editor components.
- Proven ability to build custom themes (FSE/Block-based) and plugins from scratch without relying on heavy page builders.
- Expert-level understanding of the WordPress REST API and WPGraphQL for headless or decoupled setups.
- Solid experience with MySQL optimization, object caching (Redis/Memcached), and Core Web Vitals.
- Proficiency with modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, Composer) and version control (Git).
- A commitment to the WordPress Coding Standards and building accessible (WCAG compliant) interfaces.
- Located in CET timezone (+/- 3 hours), we are unable to consider applications from candidates in other time zones.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with Roots stack (Sage, Bedrock, Trellis).
- Familiarity with Next.js or Gatsby for headless frontend development.
- Knowledge of WooCommerce customization at scale.
- Experience with Unit Testing (PHPUnit) and E2E testing (Playwright/Cypress).
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop bespoke WordPress themes and plugins tailored to specific client business goals.
- Create advanced, user-friendly Block patterns and custom blocks to empower content editors.
- Support the migration of legacy sites to modern block-based or headless architectures.
- Maintain high standards within the client’s team by conducting thorough code reviews and sharing WordPress best practices.
- Implement robust security protocols and ensure the long-term stability of the WordPress environment.
